Throughout history, music has been a major aspect of human society. Music is not just an art form; it is one of the main ways people share ideas, feelings, emotions, experiences, and stories. However, more recently, music is not just created by people, but by artificial intelligence.
The introduction of AI into the music industry has sparked mixed reactions. According to the 2025 IFPI Global Music Report, many people are concerned that AI developers may use artists’ work without permission to train their models. If copyright-protected music is used without consent, artists lose control over their own creations. Beyond the issue of unauthorized use, many artists worry that authentic, human-made music could become harder to recognize or access. Considering how quickly AI is advancing, these concerns are valid and deserve serious attention.
At the same time, the IFPI report also highlights the positive ways AI is being used. Many artists are already working with AI to enhance their sound and better understand the business side of things. When used ethically, AI can support areas such as audio production, creative development, and data analysis. This allows artists to use AI not only as a musical tool but also as a resource for growing their careers. AI has even helped artists like Randy Travis, who lost his ability to sing, record new music by building models from his previous recordings. In cases like this, AI creates opportunities that would not otherwise exist.
Artificial intelligence remains controversial, but it also holds real potential. While there are serious concerns about copyright and authenticity, there are also meaningful benefits. When used responsibly and ethically, AI can help artists grow creatively and professionally. At first, I was skeptical about what AI might bring to the industry, but now I see that it could play a powerful and positive role in the future of music.
